A formal proceeding at which evidence and arguments may be presented on the matter at issue to be decided by a person or body having decision-making authority, such as a judge.   The purpose of a hearing is to provide the opportunity for each side of a dispute, and especially a person who may be deprived of his or her rights, to present their position.
裁判官(さいばんかん)などの意思(いし)決定(けってい)権限(けんげん)を有(ゆう)する個人(こじん)または団体(だんたい)によって決定(けってい)される問題(もんだい)について証拠(しょうこ)および議論(ぎろん)が提示(ていじ)される可能(かのう)性(せい)のある正式(せいしき)な手続(てつづ)き。ヒアリングの目的(もくてき)は、紛争(ふんそう)の両者(りょうしゃ)、特(とく)に権利(けんり)を奪(うば)われている可能(かのう)性(せい)のある人(ひと)に、自分(じぶん)の立場(たちば)を提示(ていじ)する機会(きかい)を提供(ていきょう)することです。
