To hit unexpectedly from or as if from the blind side, to surprise unpleasantly.  An unseen attack, either physically or with unexpected negative news.
良(よ)く見(み)えにくい側(がわ)から、またはそのような側(がわ)から予期(よき)せず殴(なぐ)ったり、不快(ふかい)に驚(おどろき)ろかせること。物理(ぶつり)的(てき)または予期(よき)しない否定(ひてい)的(てき)なニュースを伴(ともな)う目(め)に見(み)えない攻撃(こうげき)。
