A form of representative democracy in which political power is vested in an elected legislature, but the executive and legislative branches are not separate. The elected legislature (parliament) chooses the chief executive (prime minister). The legislature may remove the prime minister at any time by a vote of no confidence and often approves the prime minister's cabinet members.
選挙(せんきょ)で選(えら)ばれた立法府(りっぽうふ)に政治(せいじ)権力(けんりょく)が与(あた)えられているが、行政府(ぎょうせいふ)と立法府(りっぽうふ)が分離(ぶんり)していない代表(だいひょう)民主(みんしゅ)主義(しゅぎ)の一(いち)形態(けいたい)。選出(せんしゅつ)された立法府(りっぽうふ)(議会(ぎかい))が最高(さいこう)責任(せきにん)者(しゃ)(首相(しゅしょう))を選(えら)びます。立法府(りっぽうふ)は、不信任(ふしんにん)決議(けつぎ)によりいつでも首相(しゅしょう)を解任(かいにん)することができ、首相(しゅしょう)の閣僚(かくりょう)を承認(しょうにん)することがよくあります。
